LOOK | DOLE-8 assesses labor market initiatives, strengthens employment facilitation

𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐎, 𝐋𝐄𝐘𝐓𝐄 – Under the leadership of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, the DOLE Regional Office VIII (DOLE-RO8) conducted the National Skills Registration Program–Labor Market Information (NSRP-LMI) Regional Assessment at Fan’s Hotel, Palo Leyte, gathering around 40 participants composed of employment focal persons from the Regional Office and its Field Offices, along with selected Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers.

The activity served as an avenue to assess the region’s accomplishments, discuss the labor market situation in Eastern Visayas, and identify strategies to further strengthen employment facilitation services.

In her message, Regional Director Imelda E. Romanillos put an emphasis on the importance of updated and timely labor market information in guiding employment programs and services.

“𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭,” Romanillos said.

She also shared valuable insights from her participation in the ASEAN Delegation Visit on Advancing Global Engagement for Labor Market Information Systems held in Bilbao, Spain, on September 14–18, 2026, highlighting the value of global knowledge exchange in advancing labor market information systems.

The assessment reinforces DOLE-8’s commitment to advancing data-driven employment strategies and responsive employment services in support of Secretary Tolentino’s Trabaho Agad agenda, helping connect jobseekers across Eastern Visayas with meaningful and sustainable work opportunities.

Also present during the assessment were OIC-Assistant Regional Director Engr. Martin T. Jequinto, and Field Office Heads.
