Investing in a dream: Nipthali Garnica turns GIP experience into professional milestone

For education graduate Nipthali Garnica, the Department of Labor and Employment’s Government Internship Program (GIP) became more than a source of income. It became an investment in his future and helped him move closer to his dream of becoming a professional teacher.

Assigned to the DOLE Samar Field Office in Catbalogan City, Nipthali described his internship as productive and filled with valuable learning experiences. Through assisting clients, he improved his communication skills, while performing administrative and computer-based tasks helped strengthen his technical competencies.

Aside from the experience he gained in the workplace, the financial assistance he received through GIP played an important role in pursuing his professional goal. The wages he earned helped finance his review for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), including his review expenses, application requirements, and other preparations needed for the examination.

His efforts and perseverance eventually paid off when he successfully passed the LET and became a Licensed Professional Teacher. The achievement marked an important milestone in a journey in which his GIP experience provided both practical workplace learning and financial support.

Nipthali continues to gain work experience as a Government Intern assigned to the Provincial Government of Samar. He remains optimistic that the skills, discipline, and experience he continues to develop will lead to greater employment opportunities in the future.

Nipthali’s story shows that GIP can support young people in more ways than one. Beyond providing temporary employment, the program can give beneficiaries the experience, skills, and financial means they need to pursue professional goals and create better opportunities for themselves.
