𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII (DOLE RO VIII), in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office Managers Association of Eastern Visayas, Inc. (PESOMAEV), convened the 2nd Quarterly Meeting of Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers on July 9, 2026 to review regional employment priorities, assess current labor market conditions, and identify strategies to further improve the delivery of public employment services across Eastern Visayas.
The meeting brought together DOLE Regional Office officials, Field Office Heads, and PESOMAEV Board of Officers for the 2026-2029 term. It served as a venue to discuss policy directions, share updates from the field, and strengthen coordination between DOLE and local government units in implementing employment programs.
In her message, DOLE RO VIII Regional Director Atty. Joan N. Noya-Nidua encouraged PESO Managers to continue working closely with the Department in delivering responsive employment services, emphasizing that effective coordination and reliable labor market information are essential in developing programs that respond to the needs of both jobseekers and employers.
Meanwhile, PESOMAEV President Norman Victor M. Ordiz thanked the Department for its continued support to the association and called on fellow PESO Managers to sustain collaboration, share best practices, and work collectively toward strengthening PESO operations throughout the region.
Among the major agenda items was the presentation of the latest labor market situation in Eastern Visayas, providing participants with updated employment data and labor market trends to support evidence-based planning and decision-making at the local level. Participants also reviewed the Department’s alignment with the PESO 5-Point Agenda, including updates on PESO accomplishments, institutionalization efforts, the establishment of additional Job Placement Offices in educational institutions, and upcoming capacity development initiatives for PESO Managers and JPOs. The meeting also provided an opportunity to address operational concerns affecting employment service delivery. Discussions covered labor market information reporting, employer and jobseeker registration, data quality, capacity development, and the continued digitalization of PESO services. Recommendations from the meeting will help guide succeeding regional initiatives and improve coordination among DOLE, PESOs, and other employment service partners.
The quarterly meeting reflects the continuing collaboration between DOLE RO VIII and PESOMAEV in strengthening the network of Public Employment Service Offices across Eastern Visayas. Through regular consultations, technical collaboration, and capacity-building activities, both organizations continue to support PESOs in delivering accessible, responsive, and quality employment services to jobseekers, employers, and local communities.
