I went through a period in my life when it felt like rejections were never-ending. The very first time I tried to get a job, I received one negative response after the other. I was totally confused about the first step to take. Every unsuccessful attempt led me to doubt my value and worth. But somehow, I still believed in God’s timing, as it was the only thing that comforted me during that time.
While browsing Facebook, I came across a post from PESO Catarman, Northern Samar regarding the Career Development Support Program (CDSP). Curious, I read more about it and eventually decided to visit the PESO office. That decision had a huge impact on my life. Under the supervision of Ma’am Fernandez, I gained valuable knowledge in writing a resume, accomplishing a Personal Data Sheet (PDS), preparing application letters, and getting ready for job interviews. More than these skills, the greatest impact of CDSP was how it restored my faith in myself.
In 2021, I was able to attend a CDSP session. The following year, my hard work was rewarded with a position under the Government Internship Program (GIP), a pivotal moment in my career that led me to public service. By 2023, I was working as a Community Facilitator for DOLE’s Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program, assisting others just as PESO once helped me. Prior to joining DOLE, I had already gained work experience with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
It was at DOLE where I truly discovered my vocation. I am not just an employee—I am a servant. The collaboration between DOLE and PESO gave me a renewed sense of purpose and the feeling of being on a mission. Looking back, I now see that all those rejections were God’s redirections—His grace made evident. My journey toward employment became a path of faith, personal growth, and service. The Career Development Support Program not only opened doors for me to find a job, but also led me to discover my true purpose in life.
