I’ve always dreamed of becoming a doctor, but before entering college, I faced a dilemma that many students can relate to: uncertainty. I wanted to pursue a medical career, yet I couldn’t decide which course would best prepare me for that path. Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Chemistry, and Biology all seemed like good options, but I feared choosing the wrong one.
When our school partnered with PESO Catbalogan to organize the Career Development Support Program (CDSP), I eagerly joined, hoping to gain clarity. During the activity, three inspiring professionals—an engineer, a pharmacist, and a doctor—shared their personal journeys and struggles. What moved me the most was the story of a doctor who achieved success despite living with a physical disability. Her perseverance and courage deeply resonated with me. I told myself, “If she can do it despite her challenges, then I can too.”
That moment became a turning point in my life. I gained the confidence to believe in myself and the clarity to decide my course. Because of CDSP, I chose BS Biology at the University of the Philippines Tacloban, knowing it would be the best foundation for my dream of becoming a doctor.
The CDS program taught me lasting values, resilience, confidence, and determination. It reminded me that every goal is within reach with faith, focus, and hard work. It helped me discover my purpose. It inspired me to stay committed to my dreams and reminded me that with passion and perseverance, I can become the doctor I’ve always aspired to be.
