In partnership with the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 8, through the Northern Samar Field Office (NSFO), spearheaded the 2026 Celebration of Araw ng mga Kasambahay on February 18, 2026, highlighting the vital role of domestic workers in every household and the local economy.
Highlights of the event were the turnover of livelihood projects worth P300,000.00 and payout of TUPAD wages amounting P226,000.00, which showcased the department’s commitment to the economic upliftment and immediate support of disadvantaged workers.
More or less 150 kasambahays got to access services including birth registration and National ID processing from the PSA, SSS membership issuance and updates, PhilHealth membership updates, and legal advice and document notarization from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), among others. The Provincial Health Office (PHO) also provided medical checkups while other wellness services such as free haircut, manicure, pedicure, and massage were also made available.
The event was graced by Regional Director Atty. Dax B. Villaruel, Asst. Regional Director Atty. Joan N. Noya-Nidua, Northern Samar Governor Hon. Harris Christopher M. Ongchuan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Hon. Gina Ong Silvano, DOLE-NSFO Head Engr. Primo N. Guarin, and Northern Samar Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Ms. Rose Anne G. Suan.
